The Expansion of Team Taylor

Team Taylor is expanding...that's right, we're pregnant!  I'm almost 21 weeks along and due around January 12.  We are really excited and can't wait for January to get here!!  The pregnancy has gone well so far; I dealt with a little bit of nausea in the first trimester, but it was gone by about week 11.  I've started feeling the baby move around for the past few weeks, but didn't really realize it was the baby until about a week ago.

We recently had our anatomy ultrasound - or attempted to...baby was pretty comfy curled up in a ball and wouldn't cooperate, so we went back today to try again.  Baby still wanted to curl up, but the tech was able to get all the views she needed...except gender.  Fortunately, we did not want to find out gender (or at least I didn't).  I told Eric it was not meant to be for us to find out in advance. :-)

Here are a few pictures of the ultrasounds I've had so far...so neat to see the baby and hear the heartbeat each time!!
Ultrasound - May 2011 - 6 weeks
Ultrasound - June 2011 - 10 weeks

Ultrasound - August 22, 2011 - 20 weeks

Air Show

Eric and I took in the Selfridge Air National Guard Air Show on Sunday; Eric had a great time looking at all of the airplanes on display.  We spent a full day there - fortunately, the weather was beautiful with temperatures in the 70s and a mix of clouds and sun.  Here are a few pictures - I have no idea what types of planes these are - it's a good thing Eric could fill me in. :-)

Eric had to get a close look at each airplane.

There were several aerobatic displays, which were pretty neat to watch
At one point in the air show, there was a wing walker who was attempting to move from the wings of an airplane to the skids of a helicopter.  On the third attempt, the wing walker grabbed the helicopter skid, but lost his grip and fell 200 feet to the ground.  It was a horrible thing to witness and unfortunately, he did not survive the fall (http://www.wxyz.com/dpp/homepage_showcase/accident-at-selfridge-air-show).

Hanging with the Boys

A few of Eric's buddies from the Chapel Hill Fire Department visited us for a few days this week.  We had a great time and crammed a lot into just a few days.  We took in a Tigers baseball game against the Twins - it was a beautiful night, the Tigers won and we got to see Verlander pitch a great game.

On Wednesday, we took in the Def Leppard concert - the whole reason for the guys' trip to MI.  The concert was awesome - they played a lot of their old 80's songs (think "Pour Some Sugar On Me").  There was some great people watching and a lot of air guitar was played by all.  Below is a video I took with my phone (hence the poor quality) of the one-armmed drummer...he's amazing.

On the guys' last full day in town, we took them to CJ Barrymore's - a great place with multiple go kart tracks, miniature golf, bowling, etc.  The guys had a great time racing go karts - they were pretty competitive and of course a few bets were placed.  The last race, they even tipped the track attendant $15 for getting them into the 3 fastest karts so they could have an even race.  We bowled a few games - and I'm happy to say that I did not come in last place either time. :-)  The guys also got hooked on a game where you try to  align a pair of scissors on a string in order to cut the string and win either an iPad, iTouch, or DS3 - needless to say, they spent enough money trying to win the iPad to almost buy one themselves...and despite coming close a few times, they did not succeed.

A little agressive driving going on - that's Eric facing the wrong direction.
