9 Months
Graecyn is 9 months old and as active as ever. She rarely sits still for long and officially crawls (extremely fast) on all fours now...we cannot turn our backs on her. She is also pulling herself up to standing on everything and has even taken a few steps with assistance; I think she will be walking soon.
She has learned to growl and often has "growling" competitions with Eric; she also loves to click her tongue and imitates many of the faces and sounds we make. She likes to wave her arms frantically when she gets excited and absolutely loves to play peek-a-boo. Her favorite song is "wheels on the bus" and our imitation of a barking dog almost always gets a big smile and laugh out of her. She loves to fake cough and when she gets really, really mad, she will blow "raspberries" as hard and loud as she possible can...it's hilarious! She has also recently found her nose with her thumb and loves to stick her thumb up her nose.
She had her 9 month check-up today and gained over 1 lb since her last check-up; she now weighs 17 lbs 4.5 oz (in the 25-50th percentile) and is 28" long (in the 75th percentile). She has the most kissable cheeks and I could just kiss on them all day long!
She is a great eater and I don't think there is any food that she has not liked yet. She's starting to use her pincer grasp and loves to feed herself puffs and other soft, chunks of food. She still has no teeth, so we're limited in what table foods we can give her, but we have added egg yolks, beets, acorn squash, and butternut squash to her diet. We're still nursing, but she's such a busy body that our nursing sessions are very short and sweet.
Her personality is really starting to show. She is extremely independent and has a "let me do it myself" attitude already...I guess I'd better start preparing myself now for future battles. She is also extremely observant...when put into a new environment, she likes to be still and take everything in - a trait she gets from both Eric and me. Once she feels comfortable in her new environment, she gets back to her normal busy self. She's still favoring me over Eric and can be quite clingy at times, which, I'm not gonna lie, I love.
It's hard to believe that she is as many months old as it took to grow her inside me; the miracle of life will never cease to amaze me. Happy 9 months baby girl!
