Renaissance Festival

What a fun, busy weekend we've had.  First the cider mill then the Renaissance Festival.  The weather was gorgeous and we had so much fun!

You got to go on another pony ride (2 pony rides in 1 weekend!).

You made a fairy wand with the fairies.

We ate a giant turkey leg...yum!!

You rode on the giant swing with Mama.

Your cousin Addison is doing Flat Stanley at school and asked us to help take him on some adventures.  He joined us at the Renaissance Festival and I think he had a good time too. :-)

Cider Mill Fun

We spent the day enjoying one of Michigan's many cider mills.  The weather was gorgeous and you had so much fun.  We made it a play date with Callie and you were so excited to get to play with her.

You weren't too sure of the animals this year and didn't want much to do with feeding them.  This was about as close as you would get (see your hand on Daddy's?).

You went on your first pony ride and had so much fun!  I was sure that you would chicken out as soon as you got near the pony, but I was wrong!  You had the biggest smile on your face the entire ride.

We made sure the get some fresh donuts, go on the train ride, and pick out our pumpkins.  It was a fun day!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Happy birthday, Daddy!  To celebrate, Mama took Daddy golfing while you were at daycare.  It had been 5 or 6 years since I have golfed, so I was a little nervous, but fortunately, there weren't very many other people playing.  Heavy rain was expected to move into our area by noon, so we were rushed to get it all in - we made it to the 15th hole before the rain started.   The course was beautiful and I was glad I brought my camera so that I could snap a few shots in between swings.  I had a few good hits and a lot of really bad hits (I stopped keeping score), but we had a great time.  We had a great lunch after golf at Bar Louie's (they had the best tator tots!) and then headed home so Mama could bake Daddy's cookie cake and get his birthday dinner ready.

Happy, happy birthday Daddy!

Mama/Graecyn Day

Sunday was another Mama/Graecyn day and we spent it with breakfast at McDonald's (or old McDonald's as you like to call it) and then a few hours at the Rochester Arts & Apples Festival.
I picked a McDonald's with an indoor playground thinking you would be so excited to be able to go down the slides…and you were super excited until we got into the play area and you saw how big they were and how high you would have to climb by yourself to get to the top.  Within seconds of getting your shoes off and socks on to go play you turned around and said you didn't want to do it and that maybe you could do it when you are bigger.  I think you were remembering the time at Jeepers indoor playground when you got to the top of the play structure and completely freaked out requiring me to run as fast as I could through a play structure designed for 5 year olds where adults were strictly prohibited from going on (think narrow, claustrophobic openings) to rescue you.  I was thankful not to have to recreate that rescue.

We got your shoes back on and headed to the festival.  It was a gorgeous day, so everyone else had the same idea we did, but fortunately, we were able to do all of the kid friendly activities right away before the crowds got too big and the lines too long.  You got to play in the bounce house/obstacle course, make a tissue paper flower, make a hat out of a paper bag (which you immediately decided you wanted to be a purse instead).

We played on all 3 of the playgrounds at the park.  At the last playground, you were having fun going down the big slide (this one you weren't scared of).  One of the times you got blocked by a little boy who was probably 4 years old.  He was just standing there staring at you - and you just froze not sure what to do.  I was watching closely, trying to decide if he was being mean and if I needed to interfere, when he gently lifted his hand, stroked the hair around your face, and then turned around and went down the slide.  It was very sweet and you just stood there with a look on your face like, "what the heck just happened."

We had such a fun day!
