Spring has sprung!

Spring has finally sprung in southeast Michigan!  Trees have started budding, flowers are blooming, and the temperatures are finally warming up.  With spring comes rain...and lots of it!  It has rained most of this week, which is great for the grass and flowers, but makes me nervous with the river in our back yard.  Last night's rain finally pushed it over the banks.  Fortunately, it remained a distance from our house and retreated back into the banks within a few hours.  Here are a few pictures of the beauty of spring.

Denver

I was in the Denver, CO area this week for a work conference and was reminded how much I love the Rockies.  I always wanted to live in Colorado and even had an opportunity to move to Denver after college for an internship...but, I turned down the internship so that I could move to North Carolina for graduate school and to be closer to a boy I had met...thank goodness that worked out. :-)

I didn't have the opportunity to see much of Denver, but did have a pretty view of the Rockies from my hotel room.

During a break in my conference, I walked a few blocks to a Butterfly Pavilion; the butterflies were beautiful, but I felt a little out of place. I think I was the only adult that was there willingly and without kids...it was field trip day and kids were running around everywhere. 

While I was there I had an opportunity to hold Rosie, the tarantula!  I was a little nervous, but figured if the 5 year olds could do it, why couldn't I? :-)

Spring Fever

It's been awhile since I've posted anything...mostly because there just hasn't been anything to post about.  The snow is finally gone and the temperatures have started to warm up.  The grass is getting greener by the day and early flowers are starting to poke out of the ground.  Hopefully spring is here to stay!

All the snow melt and recent rains are keeping our river pretty high and fast moving.  Hopefully it stays within its banks this spring.  We've had a few fisherman and seen a few kayakers in the past few weeks.  We're looking forward to being outside and enjoying our surroundings.

I celebrated my 32nd birthday last week...another year wiser!  To celebrate, Eric made one of my favorite meals for supper - cajun chicken pasta - yum!  He also baked me a cake - his first ever - and did a great job decorating it. :-)
