Renaissance Festival

Last weekend we had a few friends in town, Scott and his wife Kimberly and Cap and his wife Uma (Scott and Cap were college roommates of Eric's).  Scott is a huge fan of the North Carolina Renaissance Festival and when we learned that Michigan also has a Renaissance Festival, Eric was quick to inform Scott of this news.  It didn't take much convincing to get Scott and Kimberly to fly out for a weekend.  Cap and Uma live in Ohio for now while he finishes his medical residency, so it was a short 3 hour drive for them to come up for the weekend too.
We had a great time - visited Frankenmuth, MI on Friday where we viewed Bronner's, the World's Largest Christmas store (it's the size of 1.7 football fields!) and then ate a famous chicken dinner from the Bavarian Inn.  Saturday was Ren Fest day - it was a tad cool and windy, but we made the most of it.  Scott got to toss his tomatos, Eric got called on stage for Manolete's performance, and we ate turkey legs (yum!).

It was great having old friends in town!
