Taylor Summer Vacation Part 1

We spent a week in North Carolina visiting family in early June and had a fantastic time.

The kids did great on the flight; Cody did pretty well for an active almost 2 year old (thank goodness for Moana, his all time favorite movie), but was quite challenging during landing as he absolutely did not want to sit on my lap.  He desperately wanted to be down on the floor, so I just bear hugged him and hoped the passengers around us wouldn't be too offended by his screams.  Graecyn is a pro at traveling and is one of the cutest little travelers. :-)

Before the trip, we discovered that Cody is obsessed with the movie Moana; this came in very handy over the week and was our constant 'go to' when he was being difficult.  It was often the only thing that would snap him out of one of his many tantrums.  He was also very attached to Anna, which was so cute.  He was constantly asking for her and wanting to sit next to her.

The weather was hot, hot, hot (typical North Carolina humid summer weather), but we were still able to enjoy some time outside.  We went to the park - Cody loved the slide and Graecyn had fun helping him go down; filled up a kiddie pool and had water fights; had wheelbarrow rides; and rode a big wheel that was up in the attic from when Anna and Abbie were little.

We spent a day at the Raleigh children's museum, Marbles.  Cody loved driving all of the pretend vehicles and Graecyn had fun at every exhibit.

Since we were just a few weeks away from Cody's 2nd birthday, we had a little birthday celebration for him.  One of his favorite books is "Little Blue Truck", so I asked my sister-in-law, Amanda if she would make him a cake around that book.  She did an AMAZING job as usual! :-)

We spent an afternoon at the pool with Anna, Abbie, Brian and Rachel and both kids had a blast!  Graecyn loved the waterslide and Cody had fun floating in his tube.  He did ask to do the waterslide too, so I put him on it half way down - he went flying into Eric's arms and I think ended up with water in his nose, so that put an end to his desire to do the waterslide.

On our last day there, we went by the Chapel Hill Fire Department to see some of Eric's friends and show the kids the fire trucks.  They both loved climbing in them and Cody was ready to drive!

Such a fun week filled with family, food, and great memories!
