Here are a few things about you right now...
You are a dare devil, a busy body and never stop moving! You seem to have no fear and love to climb. Daddy found you halfway up the OUTSIDE of the staircase the other day. You would have climbed higher, but got stuck where the stairs turn. You yelled for Daddy to come help you and were so proud of what you had done (look at that big grin). You've also discovered how to get over the gate at the bottom of the stairs, so I'm not sure how we're going to keep you from going upstairs unsupervised (we don't trust you just yet).
You are such an independent and strong-willed (aka stubborn) boy. You want to do everything by yourself and when things don't go your way, your temper shows. You have mastered the temper tantrums and are an expert at dramatically throwing your body on the ground. Your temper is a bit of a problem as you tend to hit or bite to get your point across - something we are constantly working with you to stop doing (such an exhausting task). Your favorite movies are Moana and Sing - you can be in the middle of a tantrum and if I mention either of those movies, you tend to calm down instantly to watch them.
You are so full of personality! You love to wave to anyone and everyone (you're not shy). You love to make a big cheesy smile when I try to take your picture.
Some of your favorites:
Foods - you are a pretty good eater overall, but prefer chicken or chips ("ships") over anything else. You also love donuts and fruit snacks (which when you ask for them, it sounds like 'I suck').
Toys - you don't seem to have any specific favorites, but love cars, trucks, and tractors. You love to be outside and riding your bike. You've mastered pedaling your tricycle and got a bike with training wheels for your birthday; you're getting pretty good at riding it too (we just need to work on steering). You love to drive around your power wheel tractor and dune racer and will ride them in circles in the back yard for hours.
You love to dance, run, and jump. You give the great hugs and kisses. You say 'I uv u' (I love you), which is so sweet. You've discovered that your pants have pockets and will walk around with your hands in your pockets.
You love to scare and be scared. Daddy will hide and jump out yelling "raaarrrrr"; you take off running to me and jump into my arms, big smile on your face, heart pounding and then immediately say "again" for Daddy to do it all over again. When you try to scare, you sound like Mike Mazowski from the Disney "Monsters, Inc." movies - you have the cutest, puniest "raaaarrrr" there is - it's so funny.
Your favorite stuffed animal is your monkey ("kiki") and there's one blanket that is also your favorite that you sleep with every night. You still have your swim shirt blankies that you sleep with, but they don't seem to be as important to you as they used to be.
You are saying so many words now - it's so great that we can more easily communicate with you. Some words that you haven't quite mastered, but say often are boo-boon (spoon), uppy (puppy), daycyn (Graecyn). If we're bothering you while you're eating, you like to point, say "no, eat" to get us to leave you alone (probably because you hear us reminding your sister constantly to stop playing and eat during meals). You went though a phase (that I hope is done now) where you randomly made vomit noises to be funny.
We kept you rear facing in your car seat until a few weeks after your birthday. Every time we all went together somewhere, you would do role call - saying each of our names until we would answer you and then you'd move on to the next person, saying their name until they would answer you. We assume you were just making sure every one was there since you couldn't see us from your seat.
You are starting to learn your colors. You tend to try to call everything blue, but you do know blue (sounds like bu) and orange (sounds like ish) pretty well.
You keep us on our toes and bring so much silliness and joy to our lives. I can't wait to see what the next year has in store for you!
I love you buster brown!
xoxoxo,
Mama
