Gymnastics

You've had a busy winter full of gymnastics in "Developmental 1".  You had your first "mock" gymnastics competition meet in January and did awesome!  You were really nervous leading up to it, but once you go there, you were fine.  Grandma and Papa came in from Arizona to watch you, which was special.  There was supposed to another gym participating, but for some reason it didn't work out for them to come, which I think was a good thing since this was your first "competition" experience with judges.  You got red ribbons on floor, beam, and vault and a blue ribbon on bars!  Bars are your favorite of all, so I was so happy you got a blue ribbon!

You've also had a conditioning challenge, where you are rated on how strong and flexible you are by rotating through different stations (rope climb, splits, pull ups, sit ups, etc.).  And you had your second skills performance for the year.  It's amazing how much you are learning and how much your skills have advanced since your last skills performance a few months ago.

You're working on your stride circle on the bar and you are getting really good at your dismount (your coach recently told you that you can start learning the level 2 bar routine, which you are so excited about).  You're getting better at doing a cartwheel and handstand on the beam (practicing on the low beam right now).  On the floor, you have learned how to do a bridge kick over and a back walkover and are also learning how to do a back handspring.  These are all a bit harder for you because your back and shoulders are not quite as flexible as they need to be.

We are so proud of you and love to see you loving gymnastics!
